No accounts, no ads, no tracking

Cow Hawk has no sign-in, no ads and no analytics. We don't sell data. There is no user account.

What stays on your device

• Your word lists and the text you enter
• Which languages are on for each word
• Game preferences (language pair, deck)
• Custom card-back photos you choose

Delete the app and that local data goes with it.

Photos

Optional. If you set a custom card back, iOS asks for Photos access when you pick an image. Selected images stay on your device. We never upload them.

Community decks (optional)

Playing never needs the internet. Only these optional features talk to our server at cowhawk.app:

• Sharing a word list. When you tap Share, the words, title, description and the optional nickname you type are sent to our server. A person reviews them. If approved, they're published for everyone in the app and on cowhawk.app. Don't put personal information in a list or nickname.
• Downloading community decks. The app fetches the list of approved decks and the decks you choose to add.
• Reporting a deck. The reason you type is sent so we can review the deck.

We don't keep your IP address. To prevent spam and abuse we store a one-way salted hash of it with submissions and reports, used only for rate limits. Hashes on submissions are cleared after 30 days. Rejected submissions are deleted after 90 days. To have a list you shared removed, open an issue at the link below with its title.

Kids

We don't collect personal information from anyone, including children. Nicknames are optional.

If this policy changes, we'll update the date on this page.
